A/B testing is what we call when we want to test two asset versions. Email A/B testing is the most testing that HubSpot users know. But have you ever tested a webpage or a landing page before? It’s okay if you haven’t. Most users stick to A/B test emails only. But here’s why you should also A/B test your web pages or landing pages.
By testing two versions (version A and version B) of the same webpage with different design elements, copywriting, or other variables but with the same URL, HubSpot users can determine which version performs better in terms of user engagement, clicks, conversions, or other key performance indicators (KPIs).
The insights gained from A/B testing can then be used to make informed website design and optimization decisions to achieve better business outcomes.
Some of the users will see the first version of the page, while others will see the second version of the page.
You can only conduct A/B testing on your landing pages if you have Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise level accounts.
HubSpot users with CMS Hub Professional and Enterprise level accounts can conduct A/B testing on Webpages and Landing pages.
Go to the Marketing Tab and then to Webpages or Landing Pages. On the page where you see the complete list of Webpages or Landing Pages, hover over the page you want to A/B test. You will see three options; Edit, Clone, and More. Click on More, and you will see the dropdown menu below. Click on Run a Test.
The following dialog box appears. Click on the A/B Test option and then click on Next.
On the next page, enter the name of the page versions you want to create. You are then redirected to version 2 of the page, which is a clone of the version 1 page.
You can then change content, CTAs, images, banners, and other elements of the second version of the page. Preview the page before making it live.
You will see the Test Results tab when you click on the page with the A/B test. Choose the date range and frequency of the results you want to analyze.
After the test run, you will be asked to choose a winner between the two versions. You can keep the winner version and delete the other version.
Note: The two pages on the A/B test will have the same URL, but their preview URL will differ.
